Greetings, salutations, accusations, and apologies
First off, welcome to my new home on the web, masspurgation.com*. As I wrote recently on my mennonnotes blog, my rage has moved beyond the T, to engulf all of Massachusetts.
And you’re invited.
I'll be moving my archives here eventually, and you’ll be able to find all my op-eds, random notes, and rants, plus, of course, podcasts, pictures, and products (Martha Stewart, watch your back!). All in one place.
It looks a little chintzy right now—this is obviously a prefab template—but it's only temporary. I'm starting a course on web design next week, so give me a couple of months and you'll see a totally revamped look all my own.
The choice to move on from The Rage was not just a Kubler-Ross thing. Unfortunately, Boston Web Properties, the brainchild of Dan Zarrella, could not get their server issues resolved. Many of the gaps in my posts over the past months were due to problems with their server. I was not able to post, nor were visitors to the site able to comment. I tried to work with Dan. I don't think I was too demanding. But in the end he was unresponsive.
It's a pity in a way, because it's a nice idea. A network of Boston-based blogs. But the truth is, they don't need to be tied to anything like Boston Web Properties or Dan Zarrella. I got on board because I thought BWP would provide promotion and support for blogs in their network. Promotion would bring traffic, traffic would entice advertisers, advertisers would bring money, and we'd split the take 50/50.
Well, six months on, and there was one google ad on my site, I was doing what promotion there was being done, and technical support was practically nonexistent. And you know what fifty percent of nothing is, right?
But it was time to move on anyway. I rarely ride the T. I certainly did not want to write about it. Like I said, I'm all raged out.
So now there's Masspurgation.
As I explore New England in the coming months, I'll collect my thoughts and images here, and I invite you to join me. I have begun doing some periodic podcasts, and I look forward to feedback from listeners.
So, welcome. Come back whenever you've got the urge to purge. I'll be here.
