Springtime in a Box

My babies arrived from Van Engelen this afternoon. 100 Angelique tulip bulbs. Springtime in a box.

Of course, you should wait for the first hard frost to plant, and that's likely to be awhile, which is all right by me. I've still got plenty of work to do in the garden before I bury these babies, anyway. But there's something about bulbs. Down there in the earth, half a foot beneath the surface all winter long, waiting patiently to do their thing. And when they pop up, after a hard New England winter: wow. It's worth the wait.
