In The War on Christmas the Best Defense is a Good Offense
Shouldn't we wait until at least after Thanksgiving to start whining about people saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas"? Well, Lynnfield brothers Robert and Kevin Marley don't think so. In the first salvo of this year's Holiday Wars they've just announced the creation of their Committee to Save Christmas. Oh, joy.
The brothers Marley have linked the War on Christmas to immigration. The Herald quotes one of them as saying: “This is America. When you come to America, you come here because of what it offers you. Don’t come to this country and try to change things to suit you.” Apparently that's what's at stake in the War on Christmas.
In a refreshingly honest twist on the hackneyed theme of a Left-wing conspiracy against Christmas, the Marleys never once mention the L-word. Instead, they skip that step and go straight for the blacks and the Jews. According to the Marleys, it's Kwanzaa and Hanukkah that are the real enemies of Christmas. Those blacks and Jews come to America, and now they're trying to change things to suit them! Well, it's time someone stood up to them and said "enough!" This is always what the L-word implied, of course. But seldom do pundits on the right spell it out in big, block letters like this.
Good luck with the boycott, boys!
