Dot Celebrates New Year with Boston's First Homicide of the Year!
It looks like Dorchester is off to a good start this year in its quest to beat last year's homicide record.
There was a lot going on around the time (between five and six a.m.) that this fourteen year old kid was shot and killed. The Globe reports: "The eighth-grader at South Junior High School in Brockton, Boston's first homicide victim of the year, was one of five people shot in three separate attacks, all of which occurred within a few blocks of one another in the span of 20 minutes."
I think there's a good chance that unless the city can come up with a concerted, long-term solution and the will to implement it, 2007 could be a record-breaker.

This was the first news item I heard yesterday morning. Not the way to start off the new year.
