Coulter Plans to Back Romney

After her speech in front of an overflow crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference where she called John Edwards a "faggot," Ann Coulter, beacon of conservative American values, said she would likely support Mitt Romney for President.

The sad thing about it is, I can't tell if this will help or hurt Romney.

Coulter's Edwards comment in full: "I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I — so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards."

When asked about the comment later, Coulter said, "C'mon it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean."

The Romney camp did not exactly denounce Coulter, saying only: "It was an offensive remark. Governor Romney believes all people should be treated with dignity and respect."

Even John Edwards, apparently.
