The Unfriendlying of Mass Ave
Imagine my shock and horror when, on my bike ride home this afternoon I passed Friendly Eating Place on Mass Ave between Central and Harvard, and discovered it had been gutted!

This was the first place in Cambridge I ever ate. For real. Way back before Americans imported that fancy French word for "eating place". I always forget it. Starts with an "R," I think.
Looking in, I had the feeling Friendly Eating Place would be back, maybe even friendlier than before. Maybe as Super-Friendly Eating Place. We can always use more of those, Lord knows.
I didn't have my special pills with me, so to forestall depression at the thought of a Cambridge without a Friendly Eating Place—even temporarily—I rode straight to Oxford and Wendell to be with My Crosswalk. If it's possible to fall in love with a lesbian square (and I can attest to the fact that it is) I believe it's entirely possible to be in love with a raised crosswalk. I think I am, anyway.
It's Day Two Without Peej, and while it has been painful I think I may be ready to move on. It's too soon to tell if this thing with Oxford and Wendell is real, but what kind of a man would I be if I didn't at least give it a shot?

That is really sad. Before moving from Cambridge 2 years ago, I had been frequently eating there for 15 years.
