Midday in The Garden of Good and Evil

Another glorious, glorious day. It makes you want to run out in the street, strip off your clothes, and start speaking in tongues. Or is it just me? It can't just be me.

I had time to while away in the garden around midday today.  The lilacs are in bloom, and almost everything in my garden is lavender, purple, or pink. I'm a little embarrassed by it, frankly. It's a bit much.

I don't think I planned it that way, although sometimes I like to play little tricks on myself—and this would be just the kind I'd play.

But my froofy pink tulips are on their way out:

No longer even the pretense of demuring, as you can see. Like the gardener himself...

...they're practically giving it away.

But some neighbors at the end of the row have a beautiful assortment of tulips that still have some pride:

Tulips can be very prim, polite, and orderly when they want to be.

I have a tree peony that is going to blow your mind, by the way. Last year the blooms were as big as your head. It'll be another couple of weeks before it pops, but when it does you're not gonna know what hit you.

I keep missing the naked Mike! What gives? I too am looking forward to your tree peony doing it's thing, I am very jealous. I guess I have peony envy.
