Thursday Afternoon in the Fenway
Strange that the weather's been pretty unseasonably cool since last Saturday's oppressive heat. I'm not complaining, mind you. This is great cycling weather, and it's perfect for gardening, too.
Yesterday I noticed some kind of critical mass had been reached with the roses in the Fenway. They were everywhere all the sudden:

My lupine are still going:

And it's round two for the peonies (different peonies, same garden, I mean):

I even have a little cactus coming up in my succulent section (and all I did was toss it in there last fall):

I've done a lot of weeding in the beds this week, and just planted a ton of purple cone flower raised from seed. I was able to while away hours each day in the garden, which is seldom the case. All in all a pretty satisfying week in the old Fenway, and pretty laidback otherwise, too.
Although there was an exciting episode on my way home yesterday afternoon. I was cycling up Orchard Street when I came upon a T-shirt I had lost!

Someone had been kind enough to hang it on a tree branch for me, and there he was, Mario López, in his "Saved By The Bell" days, his mullet fluttering in the breeze, waiting for me.
Because of that sweet reunion, despite the fact that there's a contract out on me for dissing Mark McLaughlin's Youth Peace speech, all is right with the world.

Mike, I hope that's less painful than it sounds...

I'm so happy to hear that you and Mario have been reunited. This must have been a very emotional time for you. Especially with the whole cactus issue and no health care.

That t-shirt is simply amazing. Is there a photo of you wearing it? So glad you got it back!
