Are You the Favorite Person of Anybody?
I had kind of a weird day yesterday, internal dialogue-wise. Those chattering little voices in your head really get to you sometimes. I have the whole cast of The Wind in The Willows up here with me. Some days are voyages by ark, others are barnyards or petting zoos. Yesterday was a jungle.
Later at home, after my last Bavarian Cream donut of the day was done and dusted, I checked some emails, had a quick look at craigslist missed connections, just in case (nothing *sigh*), and then got to google freestyling.
I ended up watching this short with the always-delightful John C. Reilly on youtube:
Of course, we're all the favorite person of at least one person (and it's not Jesus, if that's who you were thinking). Few of us would come right out with it on a survey, but why not? Would it seem unduly self-indulgent?
Well, that's the great thing about an inner dialogue. Not a monologue, mind you. A dialogue. You've always got someone to chat up, and you don't have to buy them drinks, or feed them, or take them out for walks or clean up their litter box.
And the more the merrier, I say! My mind is a vast and growing democracy! And with a cast of characters and extras that rivals Troy and Alexander combined, surely there must be one or two for whom I'm the favorite.
I can always say—to give you just one example—that yes, I am Miss Chicks's favorite person!

Miss Chicks.
I know I will always have Miss Chicks, because even the little green pills they give me don't get rid of her. She is always dancing that crazy dance of hers right at the edge of my consciousness, God love 'er!
Still, it's comforting to know you can count on someone to be there, whether you want them or not.
(P.S.: I am not fishing here! I am really very content to be Miss Chicks's Favorite Person! Thank you, Miss Chicks!)
