A Clockwork Pink

Like clockwork, it's May 20th and my gorgeous tree peony's started to bust out:

It's not in full glory at the moment — only five or six of the twenty or so blossoms have popped.  The rest are biding their time...

Should be spectacular by the weekend.

There was also a lone allium (that's a hopped up onion to you and me — I think this is the variety they call "gladiator") in the garden across the path just begging to have its picture taken.  I obliged...

And on a humbler note, my little clump of forget-me-nots finally seems to be taking off...

I just keep moving them until I find a spot they like or they give up the ghost.

Speaking of: it looks like my columbine, so spectacular the last couple of years (see here and here) dried up and died. Definitely bummed about that.

But with the peony busting out and my lupine about to go to town, too (although not in the abundance I saw last spring), and the scent of lilac still wafting over me whenever I'm in the garden, I just can't seem to get myself worked up into too deep a funk.
