Why Not Just Say It?
I'll admit it: I don't get it. I just read about this new iphone app that allows you to "write short messages or draw simple diagrams in the air" by holding the phone like a pen.
One of the developers of the app says "We're trying to get past the whole idea of typing on a keyboard or using a stylus to enter information into devices."
OK, so, am I missing something or do we already have a way? IT'S A PHONE: TALK INTO IT! That's how we've traditionally "entered information" into it, innit?
Honestly, I don't know where all this is going. My niece, God love her, started texting because she could do it under her desk at school without her teacher knowing. She can now turbo-text without looking at the keyboard, simultaneously turbo-talking about something unrelated but equally unimportant with someone else. I fail to see how this new app would enable her to do this any more efficiently or effectively than she currently does.
Technology was once supposed to make us smarter, wasn't it? Whatever happened to that?
