Despite the Gloomy Weather, Everything's Coming Up Roses

I had the afternoon free yesterday, and the bike lanes mostly to myself, on account of the gloom, I guess.  It was perfect weather for riding, though: cool but not windy, overcast but no rain.  So I biked on over to my Fenway garden, and checked up on my zinnias, which I've been pumping up with plant steroids my pusher, Steve, gave me.

But it's the roses that are the real story right now.  I love this time of year: the rose hedges and garden gates literally come alive.  Everything looks magical...

(See more — and man-sized — here!)

If you're in the neighborhood, stop and smell the roses. It'll lift you right out of the gloom. I guarantee it.
