Congress to Hear From Service Chiefs on DADT This Week
Get ready for some serious posturing on the right. Congress has called hearings on the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell this week. Thankfully the US is beyond calling for murdering your gay sons, but expect a lot of fear-mongering and righteous indignation (for a preview, check out John McCain's comments from a hearing a couple weeks ago, wherein he characterized DADT as "a policy that has been successful for two decades" — successful at what he did not specify).
Oh, and don't expect Dick Cheney's support for the repeal of the ban on gays in the military to carry much water, either. Even though he was the architect of the War on Terror the right is always cawing about.
