Golden Years, New Bedford Style
The headline in the Herald:
Retriever attacks 81-year-old New Bedford woman
First of all. Gotta love New Bedford. Where else could a 14 year-old — that's 98 (!) in dog years — golden retriever — that most family-friendly of dogs — bite an 81 year-old lady walking home from church?Has anything good ever come outta New Bedford?

Moby Dick?

Hmm...some pretty amazing 19th c. houses/neighborhoods available on the cheap (cf: your point, I know...but if that commuter rail line gets there...) - it's really a handsome city in its bones - not surprising given it was possibly the richest city in America (so they say; I'm a bit dubious of such claims, but it was up there) in the whaling years and did OK through the textile-manufacturing era therafter; & not a few very hot guys with names like Jesus & Luis...(but, yes, you probably want the ones who got out...strike 2 contra New Bedford...sigh).
