What I Love About Boston

On my morning ride I came up behind a nattily dressed older man with a plastic grocery bag stumbling into, and then out of the bushes by Clemente Field on Park Drive around the corner from my place. This is not such a strange occurrence in the Fenway, but it was a little early in the day.

And that's just what I was thinking as I swerved around him and looked back.

And then I realized it was Mike Dukakis on his way to his office at Northeastern. And far from any dodgy business, I saw now he was very soberly picking up trash along Park Drive on his walk to work.

He might have lost his bid for president, but the guy's a prince in my book.

I nearly knocked him over jogging along the Charles several years back. He and Kitty were strolling along the Charles presumably enjoying the day. I had no idea who he was until I was nearly on top of them. He is much shorter than I realized.
