Cyberworld War I
I'm fascinated by this whole Wikileaks War that's raging in Cyberspace as we speak.
LONDON — A broad campaign of cyberattacks appeared to be under way on Wednesday in support of the beleaguered antisecrecy organization WikiLeaks, which has drawn governmental criticism from around the globe for its release of classified American documents and whose founder, Julian Assange, is being held in Britain on accusations of rape. It's so exciting and futuristic! Like a real-life Tron, almost. And yes, I'm totally serious.Attacks were reported on Mastercard.com, which stopped processing donations for WikiLeaks; on the lawyer representing the two Swedish women who have accused Mr. Assange of sexual improprieties; and on PostFinance, the Swiss postal system’s financial arm, which closed Mr. Assange’s account after saying he provided false information by saying that he resided in Switzerland.
You have to wonder if, when the history e-books of the future are written, this won't be a much bigger chapter than the one on the dirty little wars that wikileaks has undermined. I mean, this is the real thing, baby. This is the future.
The movie'll be bigger than The Network, I can tell you that much. James Cameron should get in on this. This story's got everything. A charismatic criminal mastermind and accused rapist. A "leaderless group of activist hackers" called "Anonymous" (who say all they want is transparency, but whatevs) who are attacking banks and big business online in retaliation for trying to shut wikileaks down. You've got international intrigue, a world on the brink, and Hillary Clinton is pissed.
All of which is kind of scary, but kind of hot. And I don't think I'm alone in saying infinitely more interesting than Al-Qaeda and its parade of inept ass-bombers. I am almost relieved that the real battle of the future might not have anything to do with religious douchetards sticking bombs up their butts. It might actually be a bunch of brainy freedom (of information) fighters with the tools to bring big business to its knees.
Could the future really be this fascinating? And this fast in coming?

Hopefully all of this this will help rollerblades come back into fashion...

I'm with you, Mike. I've been following it pretty closely, and this is just the beginning.
